I'm currently using windows xp, I had bad experience using windows XP since last few years ago, the windows XP system is vulnerable from virus attack. I'm not sure whether need to move to the new windows vista platform or open source
Alot of software development still has to be done for programs to be compatible with Vista. I'd say wait for at least a year after the true release date to give them time to catch up.
As far as XP goes, all you need is a decent AV program, and watch what you do online to avoid getting viruses.
I haven't gotten any virus infection yet.(had mine for more than two years) Only thing I've gotten was Spyware from downloading "Smiley Central" when I knew I shouldn't have.
I work with software allot, and I also beta Test allot of Windows software. Personally, I would wait 1 1/12 yrs after the release of Vista to get it. This will give other people and vendors time to find all of the "flaws" and "holes" in the software. I would probably wait until the first service pack is released.
Good Luck….
I think you should go with linux…problem solved.

Back in 2006, I took a quickbooks class in which the instructor used Get Smart with Quickbooks 2006 for windows student guide and the cost wasn't cheap. I figured a huge part of the cost was in the purchase of the book and figured why not I could practice at home when I download the software. Um, it doesn't have the software. In its place is a training CD. What a burn. anyways, learning the application was slow but in the latter of the class I picked up. but, as every instructor will tell you, if you don't use the skills to land a job you will lose them. unfortunately, I didn't manage to get a job. now, five years later in my career it is imperative in order to transition to a related career, I need the skill again. I have the study guide in pristine condition with training CD. the only thing missing is the software. a buddy gave me Quickbooks 2005 premier version to use. I wasn't too keen with the graphics but figured learning is learning. I tried to download but the installation wizard recommended a multimedia by microsoft in order to function only to find out the one I needed was discontinued. So, before I purchase the software, somewhere I don't want to get stuck with software that I don't use due to compatibility issues. Intuit suggests to use a 2007 edition. but, can I use that software with the 2006 study guide?
The short answer is – yes you can use a 2006 study guide with QuickBooks 2007.
The long answer is a bit more complicated. Intuit releases a new version of QuickBooks every year. the most recent release is QuickBooks Pro 2011. with each new release Intuit makes improvements and adds functionality to the software. However, they never revamp the look and feel of the software so it's fairly easy to work in multiple versions and not have to start over with each new release. So go ahead and use your 2006 study guide and work in the 2007 version to learn the basics of QuickBooks. just be aware that you will not be learning any of the added functionality that has been added between version 2007 and version 2011.
Learning the basics in version 2007 will provide you with a solid foundation to build on and make it easier to get up to speed on newer versions as you will only have to learn the new features and not the basics.
Good luck with your training.

Had to get rid of Yahoo Plus, which I could use POP accounts for my mail notification. I saw one that looked good for Yahoo Gadgets, but I prefer the sidebar for Windows Vista that just tells me how many e-mails I have from Yahoo.
