Can you installe MAC OSX on a PC other than an Apple?

Like on a Dell, Toshiba or emachine?

nope only apple…

I think we can..

Search for it.. I am sure i read it somewhere.

the answer is "YES" you can

for a demonstration go to youtube.com and in the search bar type
mac vs linux or
dell OS/x or
linux

you will be surprised what you will see and you will find out just what you can do with a pc….

Yes. there is a hacked version of MAC OS X ported to the x86 (normal pc) architecture. If you can find it via bittorrent. it is tricky to install and doesn't work on computers with very outdated bioses.

I'm sorry to say you can't install OSX on anything but mac. Apple is very fussy about that. Apple prices are not that bad anymore the price is usually around the same as a pc plus around$100-200 more. get a mac mini for around $500 or less and you have a great cheap OSX machine.

What version of MacOS is the MacMini?

I have a mac mini but to install java you need to know the version of it the choices are:
10.4.4-10.5.1 intel
10.4.3-10.5.1 power pc
10.2.8-10.4.2
10.2.2-10.2.7
9.1-10.2.1

I looked on the bottom of my mac mini but it says the serial number and the year it was made [2005] and a bunch of other things but there is none of those numbers

How can i make my mac os x 10.2.8 faster?

its really slow and im tired of it!

Screw people who want PCs. Although if you're running 10.2 its about time you need an update/upgrade.

youtube.com/watch?v=xVcm9fGSK…

Upgrade to 10.5.7, max the ram. Clean out some Crap from the hard drive or Reformat it.

You have one of two problems:
1) 10.2.8 has always been slow on this computer.
2) 10.2.8 is suddenly slower than before on this computer.

Like an audience response to a Letterman monologue, I will ask "how slow is it?" To that I will add "is it slow when not connected to the Internet or only online?"

If the problem is only when browsing online (or downloading from the Web), you need broadband or you have a problem with your wireless connection to your DSL/cable modem. this type of slowness is usually not caused by 10.2.8.

If the problem is when not online (can you get off-line and test it?), and it is a sudden reduction in speed, start by looking at the available space on your hard drive. If you have more than one hard drive, look at the one with the start-up system (10.2.8) installed. If you have less than 1 GB of available space, backup some large files to another drive or burn to a CD/DVD. Then trash those items and empty the trash. keep going at it until you have more than 1GB of available space. sometimes hidden log files can build up size and they can't be found and removed easily. For that type of problem, backup all important documents, boot to the OS X disc, erase the hard drive, and reinstall. Be sure to do all your updates after that.

Another reason for off-line slowness is drive corruption. Open Disk Utility, select the hard drive, select the "First Aid" tab, click to verify. If it finds any problems, that needs to be fixed. Boot to the OS X install disc, go past the language selection, open Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, repair the hard drive.

If the problem is when off-line and it has always been slow, maybe your computer is just old and slow. are you comparing your computer with a new one? Don't expect a ten year old computer with a 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM to be as fast as a 3GHz with 2GB of RAM.

You can add more RAM to speed up tasks that need a lot of memory, such as running several complex applications at once (Photoshop plus iMovie plus DVD Player, for example). For other tasks, a faster processor may be the solution. that might be possible, depending on which computer you have, or you may have no choice but a newer computer.

In general, 10.5 will not be much faster than 10.2.8, so ignore that idea. Of course, the new computers have 10.5, but there are a lot of reasons why they are faster, not just because of 10.5.

Don't get a PC that is as old as your Mac. that would be Windows 98. who would expect that to be better?

How do I fix Macintosh OS?

My friend have a old iMac thats running on Mac OS 9.2. It's not running through Mac OS X, It's just running on mac os. It will not boot up unless the extensions are off (by holding shift at startup). I don't know why and I don't want it to be like this. I don't have the restore installation disk for it. please help me fix it.
