Installing Emulators or Other things on Ubuntu Lunux?

Hey, everyone. I need your help, please. I got a PS3, and i was just looking around on the internet one day, and i found out a way where you could play emulated games (i.e. genesis, nintendo, gamecube) games on PS3. I came across Ubuntu, a linux oriented software. Problem is; i don't know how to use it any. I did manage to install it on my ps3, however. can someone please give me step-by-step directions on how to install video game emulators on Ubuntu linux? One more thing; can you transfer files from USB Flash Drives to the Ubuntu desktop? Thank you!
There is a specific UbuntuPs3 that should make things easier. You should google

Basically, the Ubuntups3 gets through the installation process using better graphics for the install screens.
There was even a popular Mechanics mag article.

I was playing one of my old Nintendo gamecube games; "Ty-The Tasmanian Tiger 2" and found a cheat code on a site I wanted to use; (Reveal all Items (Krome Orbs, Bilbies, Opals, ect…) START, START, Y, START, START, Y, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT)…I know this might sound silly but, which buttons on my gamecube controller are "up & down"?…I've tried some of the other codes and, I hear a guitar sound when they work but this one I'm having a problem with…I've tried the C-stick & the directional pad for the up & down part of the code but, no luck there…can anyone tell me which buttons are used for the up & down part of this code?…thank You
(p.s….I've had a previous answer suggesting that I find out when the code should be entered…Like I said, all the codes are entered while you are playing and, I have already entered a couple of them and they work. ( I hear a guitar sound telling me it worked) but, the other codes have a, B, L, R, etc…this is the only one with up & down in it…I just need to know which buttons on my controller are up & Down)
"up" should be pushing forward on the control stick, while "down" should be pulling back toward yourself on the control stick. You may need to use the D Pad which is located below the control stick instead. Hopefully this helps.
