Today I opened up the newspaper and saw something I don't see every day. It was a story about football, but not men's football. yes, it was about a women's football team, and I don't mean soccer. I mean American football.
The Memphis Belles is a new team in the National Women's Football Association. they play real tackle football too, not flag or touch or any other variation. the newspaper article is here:

If you look at the pictures, except for the one where the woman isn't wearing her helmet, you really can't tell they're women out there playing.
The league's website is here. Apparently they've actually been around for a few years.

I have two questions about this:
1. Do you support the idea of women's football?
2. would you go watch it?
Of course, anything else you have to say is welcome too.
I think they have have women's football for years in that little catholic town in middle of nowhere called Notre Dame
I'm glad you had links in your question, or I'd have thought you'd had one hotty toddy too many. oh, well! one more thing on my list of things I don't have to pay any attention to. now if you could just trade that ugly avatar for a pretty picture, say, a bulldog…..
I didn't know women had a pro league. Interesting.
If they want to play, good for them. I wouldn't go watch, but I have nothing against it.
I think that it's good to have a women's football league, I support it all the way. I wouldn't watch it though..
I don't support football and I don't watch football.

That was the conclusion from league chairman, Irvin Khoza after a board of governors (BOG) meeting held on Thursday.
The new man will replace outgoing Kjetil Siem who will vacate the position at the end of this month.
According to the league, the new chief executive will be named “once psychometric tests have been completed”.
“we still have to finalise the evaluation for us to be able to announce the new chief executive,” Khoza told the media after the meeting.
The PSL though are still keen on using Siem on consultancy basis when available, possibly, to share some knowledge with his successor.
Khoza was full of praise for the Norwegian for implementing good IT structures that have professionalised the league.
“we might look at retaining Kjetil on a consultancy basis in the future, but that has not been finalised,” said Khoza.
“He was instrumental in introducing various online components to our administration including online player registration, match reports and competitions administration system.”
The 2011/12 PSL season starts on August 6 and will be opened with the first round of the MTN8 trophy.
Some of the key outcomes from the gathering were the broadcast rights negotiations process that will begin soon.
With the league’s television rights deal with SuperSport International worth over R1 billion expiring at the end of next season, there soon needs to be a negotiations process.
“the issue of the new broadcast rights deal was also discussed. the BOG agreed that EXCO should start negotiations with interested parties,” said the league in a statement.
Another key change involved the newly restructured First Division that has now been amended to one 16-team stream instead of two containing eight teams each.
The league also wants each team to field five Under-23 players and a reduced number of three foreigners.
The league will kick off on the same day as the is the Premiership.
