I am using CATIA v5, and I can export files to a variety of CAD standard files, iges, stp, wrl, and step. I want to be able to render these files in a high end rendering software. I was thinking of using 3D Max and using VRay but It has a steep learning curver to use it. Has anyone got any recommendations?

Industry best – 3D Studio Max +VRay introduced their 2009 realease which was specifically for Architectural work. yes it's a steep learning curve but isn't better to learn the best?!
We have loads of tutorials links to help you get started!!!

I am looking for a program in which I can create a solid model (like any CAD package) and then do aerodynamic modeling (ie simulating a wind tunnel). This may also require more complex surface modeling.
Thanks
autocad………….sufficient for me…….hopefully for u too!

Hi
I am in final year of mechanical engg. i am interested to build my career in cad cam field. so my questions are
1) whether is it right track on which i am interested to move? if not suggest alternative.
2) whether cad cam is having bright future?
3) If yes then which course i should prefer after mechanical graduation?
4) and which is best institute for that course in pune or in any other city?
I live in the US and work as a design engineer . I can’t recommend a good school, but I can answer some of your questions.
Your success as a design engineer is going to ultimately depend on your work experience and less of what courses you took. It’s sometimes difficult to get a good design job right out of school so if you decide to go to this trade school use it only as a stepping stone and don’t get pigeon holed as a drafter. Drafting experience is good, but make sure you let your employer know of your other analytical skills as well as your practical. for example I can read a book on flying planes but that doesn’t make me a pilot. Knowing CAD doesn’t make you a design engineer. get practical experience that you can use to market yourself. What you really want to learn are things like geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, tolerance stackups, manufacturing methods etc. and the best way to do so if by doing. Unfortunately you are at a stage in your life where you will deal with a lot of people that only want to know what school you went to, what your grades were etc. but trust me, in 5 years the only thing people will want to know is what skills do you bring to the table, and you want to bring more than just , I know software program X, Y,Z. If I had to choose programs to get trained on I would choose Pro/E, Solidworks you can teach yourself.
Hey hi,
Definately the Design Engineers are in well demand but all that matters is whether you are just a CAD modeller or a good Design Engineer.
If you really want to become a good Design Engg rather than just a CAD modeller/draughtsman I would suggest you to join Vector Technologies CAD CAM CAE Training & Engg Services in Pune.
