hi i had my little boy 4 wks ago and was looking through my notes my midwife didn't take and wondered what 'spontaneous – vertex ment, its wrote next to the type of delivery i had.
also i had an episiotomy and it says sutured with vicryl rapide, and i not sure what it means, are my stitches going to fall out or do they dissolve? many thanks for any help x

Spontaneus meaning you went into labour on your own, is no induction
Vertex meaning head first
Vicryl rapide is a brand of stitch, cant tell you for certain that its dissolvable but thats pretty much the only type (by this i mean dissolvable) they use to stitch up episiotomies
Hope this helps

spontaneous means that you delivered your son your self and did not need forceps or vontouse – well done!
vertex means that the presenting part (part born first) was your sons vertex which is his skull. so he was born head first which is also normal.
Stitches normally disolve themselves. may sure you go for your six week check with you doctor just to check everything is back to pre pregnancy

rapide is when your pushing the baby out breathing fast in laber. your stitches will dissolve, and you can look at any of your docter notes anyway , i hope i have helped, good luck with the baby,x

Hi im a midwifery assistant and would love to answer this, spontaneous vertex means you had a normal delivery, ie no forceps, vontouse, kiwi, or section. you was completley normal my lovely. x

Suture is the medical term for the stitches used to fix the tear.
A spontaneous vertex delivery is just a plain, normal delivery.

Spontaneous vertex means normal vaginal delivery so it's nothing to worry about.

And vicryl rapide sutures are dissolvable.

'spontaneous – vertex means normal head first delivery. just means you had a natural normal delivery without being induced

I think your midwife could tell you everything you need to know. Give her a call.

The stitches will dissolve.

It means that the baby came out head first, and the second means that it was heat sealed

im not quite sure my self but you could search the net or give the midwife a call she wold tell you then.

Ermmm…. maybe search on the internet or call up your doctor!

What is the best fruit to practice your suturing? ie Subcuticular and Inverted?

When I was a student in the 1960s we were recommended to use pigs knuckles. Cheap, worked well. But they don't grow on trees.
