Is there some way to cancel the Copenhagen climate conference?

Why do the so-called scientists, politicians….. etc….. insist on spewing thousands of tons of pollutants into the atmosphere to have a meeting that could be done by video-conference?

It seems odd to me that these characters generate pollutants …. needlessly….. in order to discuss how WE…… NOT THEY…… should be more responsibility in our use of energy. Your thoughts?

"the Copenhagen summit next week will generate vast quantities of hot air. It will see 16,500 people coming in from 192 countries. That amounts to 41,000 tons of carbon dioxide, roughly the same as the carbon emissions of Morocco in 2006. also, the organisers will lay 900 kilometres of computer cable and 50,000 square metres of carpet. more than 200,000 meals will be served and visitors will drink 200,000 cups of coffee — at least that will be organic."

Vote them out of office.

Take them out of office.

Armed revolt.

Are you serious? People interact and make deals in person, that is how things are. That small amount of pollution could be offset in 10 minutes if they come to an efficient deal. these are the people who decide, they are our representatives. Is there a difference between reading online and talking to someone? It is stunned people like you that hurt our cause. think about NORMAL people, a lot of people don't even believe global warming is an issue let alone care about where coffee comes from or the CO2 from a plane trip. now to finish, I agree with everything other than the video conference… But think before you type, you can hurt your own cause by sounding like a hippie. Not everyone is as far ahead as you.

Will you be cancelling your sports viewing subscriptions if?

The Ashes, World Cup football and Golf tournaments are returned to free view TV ? Sporting events organisers say the move would be detrimental as it would rob them of revenue. The ECB currently has a £300million Sky deal and the SFA who have deals worth £12million would be among the objectors. I suppose some of these people would have to take a drop in their salaries.

Never paid for Sky Helen and I never will. I had an intense dislike for Murdoch long before he set it up after reading the inside story of his takeover at The Times by the editor (Good Times Bad Times, Harold Evans)

If everyone had boycotted sky when he launched it, within a year he would have been bankrupt, we could watch all the sport we want for free, and we wouldn't have the bloated cash rich premier league that we have now.

You know what, I don't miss live sport, much of it is boring anyhow. most of the best sporting occasions are on free TV as it is.

its a tough one, because would you say that any Steven Spielberg film has to be made free to air rather than viewers having to pay to view. and look how much football clubs now charge for you to go in and watch.

However, with world events such as the Olympics and World Cup, I think there has to be protection against pay-to-view exploitation, and they should be made available to terrestrial TV.

In the case of match series between two countries, The Ashes, I'm not so sure, I think they have the right to sell it as they wish perhaps, I think making highlights available is fair enough there.

I don't want the BBC paying out 10s of millions so that Gary Lineker has something to talk about, just as I didn't like them paying millions to Jon. Ross.

TENS of thousands of visitors flocked to Weymouth harbourside to sample seafood dishes fresh from Dorset’s coastline.

Glorious sunshine, celebrity chefs and the Moving Tides children’s procession ensured that this year’s Dorset Seafood Festival was an extravaganza of tastes, sights and cooking smells.

the two-day event launched with a splash with the Cross-Harbour Oyster Challenge when 10 eager swimmers raced across the harbour to earn an oyster and a glass of champagne.

now in its fourth year, the county’s seafood festival was bigger than ever before with more than 40 stalls stretching both sides of the harbour offering tasters of and selling seafoods, while well-known local chefs gave demonstrations.

the event was part of the weekend finale of the nine-day Spirit of the Sea maritime festival.

Nigel Bloxham from the Crab House Café at Ferrybridge, thrilled the crowd with his Fishtucker Trials once again, with ‘volunteers’ trying offal such as fish eyes and scallop frills.

he said: “We’ve just had our best session yet in the three years we’ve been running it.

“Special thanks to Matt Newman, of Coast Seafood who sponsored the event and took part, he also put £50 in the bucket to start our fundraising off for the Fisherman’s Mission charity.”

he added: “Dorset Seafood Festival is a good show for us, we’ve supported it right from the start.

“This is the fourth year and it’s huge, like last year it’s both sides of the harbour and it’s got some great names, word’s getting around.”

Other well-known names included mark Hix, Richard Bertinet, Ed Baines, Lesley Waters, Shaun Rankin, Darren Sharp, River Cottage forager John Wright and Duncan Lewis.

For non-seafood lovers there were cheddar, ice-cream, cider stalls and an exhibit by local ArtWey artists.

Weymouth College chef lecturer Ashley Perry, promoting the college’s Cygnets training restaurant and courses, said: “The weathers lovely, the buzz is good, everyone’s seemed pretty interested.

“I think this is a good size we’ve got now.

“One of our students Michelle Sherman helped to prep for the celebrity chefs.”

Festival organiser Roger Dalton said: “We’ve been very lucky with the weather, the turnout has been strong.

“We had an extra stage for chefs by Condor and it’s been a lovely atmosphere.

“You’re never sure when you extend these things how it will work but it’s worked extremely well.

“It gives us a lot of confidence for next year when we hope to organise an international seafood village and ask the Olympic teams to sail down the harbour to open it.

“We’re also starting to open up more ideas for activities on the water – those are our ambitions for 2012.”

Hundreds of people also flocked to the Weymouth international Maritime Model festival at Weymouth Pavilion, the Weymouth Pleasure pier and Radipole Lake.

What Size Planner Should I get?

I'm buying an organizer/daily planner, and I'm not sure what size to get. I'm debating between the personal size (3 3/4 x 6 3/4) or the pocket size (3 1/4 x 4 3/4). I want to be able to just throw it in my purse and pull it out when I need it, but not have it take up too much space, or be too small and not fit what I need to write. which size do you use/recommend?

get the personal size the pocket size prob wont fit everything ur gonna need to write

Business Meeting Venues in the UK – Accommodation

With business growth and revenues at stake, it is essential that companies put in a lot of thought and effort into organising business meetings. Time and cost factors play a vital role in business meetings. Every single minute is crucial and any delay can lead to a loss in revenues. therefore, there is very little margin for error. Whenever a business meeting is organised, the planning has to be meticulous to ensure that the event takes place smoothly.

The Internet is flooded with websites that offer useful and relevant information to help you organise a business meeting. one of the most important factors that you must consider is the choice of venue. Before you hire a venue, make sure that the planning has been done in advance. Companies with multiple operating centres would have to focus on selecting a venue that is easily accessible by the attendees of the meeting. for instance, if you are headquartered at Stafford, but your primary operational centre is at Northampton, it would be sensible to book a Northamptonshire venue for the meeting. At the same time, if there are multiple operational centres and the closest venue to all the centres is Oxford, you would want to book an Oxfordshire venue. although the process of selection sounds simple, companies often ignore this vital aspect. Consequently, there is a delay in the start of the meeting, which eventually leads to downtime and a resultant loss in revenue.

Another important factor to be considered while organising a business meeting is the accommodation for the attendees. If the meeting were scheduled for more than a day, you would want to put in some thought into arranging accommodation for the attendees. Logically, the best way to go about it is to look for accommodation close to the venue where the meeting is organised. in doing so, the attendees would face no issues travelling back and forth from the venue, reducing inconvenience and saving on time as well. At the same time, companies can focus on the meeting per se rather than losing crucial time by looking for hasty, stopgap arrangements.

In addition to accommodation, you would also need to arrange for caterers, transport for the attendees, etc. Attendees would not find it very easy to arrive at a specified location if they are not based in the same city. it is essential that you make sure transport is available to them, so that they arrive at the venue without any hassles.

Fixing a budget for a business meeting is one of the most important aspects that you need to consider while preparing a meeting plan. it is essential that you evaluate the resources that you have to determine what the right budget would be for a meeting. Additionally, you need to factor in the number of attendees and the duration of the meeting. after you have identified the right budget, contact the venue provider for the available rates.

The capacity of the venue also plays an important role. At the same time, make sure that the venue offers staff and volunteers to attend to the participants. Additionally, you would want to find out the number of rooms that you can use for the meeting. If there are extra rooms, you can accommodate more participants in case the original capacity offered to you is insufficient.

If you have included entertainment and team-building activities for the business meeting, you would want to approach the right people for the same. in case you plan to do it yourself, it is even better. however, it is always recommended that you hire an agency with an expertise of handling such activities for corporate business meetings.

When you are organising a business meeting, it is essential that you select the dates sensibly. make sure that the date you have selected doesn’t concur with other events. At the same time, keep an eye on holidays or other events that can keep the participants away. it is always sensible to plan for a business meeting several months in advance. in doing so, you will have sufficient time to make all the arrangements as well as intimate the participants about the meeting. there is another important reason for the same. Business meeting venues are often booked months in advance during peak periods and you would need additional time to select a venue, which is offered at the price you had initially planned.

In the UK, it wouldn’t be difficult to find a business meeting organiser to help you with the arrangement. Some of these organisers take care of everything, right from finding a suitable venue and negotiating the price to finding transport and accommodation for the attendees. By passing on the mantle to a business organiser, you can ensure that the whole process is completed without any glitches.

Finally, make sure you conduct a review of all the tasks that you have done. Check to see if you have overlooked an important task. once the meeting starts, there is little that you can do to rectify your mistake. therefore, ensure that the planning and administration is immaculate.
