Is there an inline switch for ethernet cable, kind of like an RJ45 coupler with a switch?

Many times I want to stop the flow of data to my computer w/o having to turn my home external modem/router/switch off?

Thanks,

Lisa

You could unplug a cable from the hub or router, but a switch (an electrical on/off switch) is not allowed under the Ethernet specs. some routers or managed ethernet switches (the boxes into which you plug ethernet cables with rj45 jacks) allow you to switch off a port with a management program. for instance, to manage a Linksys router, point your browser to 192.168.1.1 and look for commands to turn off ports.

Where can I buy a wireless networking parabolic antenna with a SMA connector?

I've been looking on the internet for parabolic antennas and I can't find one that comes with a SMA connector. They call come with N-Female or some other connector type, but I need the SMA connector. If anyone can help me it'd be greatly appreciated.

Why are there different types of coaxial connectors?

From what I know, there are F-type connectors, BNC connectors, etc. why can't there just be one kind of coaxial connector? What's the purpose of having a different kind of connector on the cable, if it does the same thing?

Oh, wouldn't it be nice?
Some are cheaper to manufacture than others, some are simply more convenient than others, some are more specialized to do a certain task than others, some are compatible with other types of equipment. plus, if we used RCA connectors for the cable/antenna connections, I'm sure there'd be a lot of people out there who would get this RF connection mixed up with the video inputs on their TV. as it is, I've seen cases of people mixing up composite and component, or even video and audio (my boss did that once, hehe)

Not all cables are the same for one reason. Also the frequency of the signal handled.

How do I insert the loading bar into the plug on an RJ45 ethernet cat 6 plug?

I bought the plugs (male connectors) that come with the loading bar, but the holes in the bar don't match up with the holes in the plug. I bought them together in a package, so they shouldn't be mismatched. am I missing something, or did I just buy a faulty product? They exact name is: CAT 6 RJ-45 MODULAR PLUG UL RATED W/ LOADING BAR by PAN PACIFIC.
