I am an ac contractor in fl, and I deal with every brand mentioned here. Basically, every manufacturer makes two or more lines of air conditioners. usually, even the entry level models will qualify for 10 year parts warranty, if you simply register the serial numbers of the equipment on the manufacturers website. That being said, its really down to the equipment, assuming that your contractor is good. the premium models usually have more features, such as blanketed compressors, lower fan speeds, more quiet operation, and even diagnostic boards for servicing. Personally, I would not purchase the Trane, the last few years, in my opinion, the quality is no longer above the other manufacturers. They seem to have problems with coil leaks and bad evap fan motors. If it were me, I would go with the Rheem Value(if it qualifies for 10 year warranty}
That's a hard question to answer based on the information you gave. What is the tonage of the AC system? When you mention "flushing lines" does that mean they are not replacing the existing lines, but evacuating them?
But, one thing to keep in mind when installing a system is how long you plan to stay in the house. If you foresee moving in the next few years, you will not earn back the savings from higher SEER systems. it take 10 to 15 years to make up the difference.
I installed my own system and put in a 2.5 ton Goodman 14Seer. the outdoor unit and the coil cost around $1500 about 5 years ago.
The tightness in pricing between the Trane XR15 and the goodman lead me to believe. these quotes came from a single contractor that handles all three lines. Get quotes from a couple more contractors.
