I want to buy a USB Port multiplier (Hub) that convert 1 usb port from my desktop to muliple ports.?

I'm confused between Belkin & IOGear brands. my budget is less than 10$ and expecting a 4 port hub. can u suggest me some good models and also the difference b/w 2.0 or 1.1 usb port. do we really need an external adaptor for the usb hub? Is there any good brands? What about the heat issue if connected for long hours?

ok, i'd recommend getting this kind of thing off ebay, you'd be paying more and not getting anything new if you were to buy it from your local computer shop

USB2 vs USB 1

usb 1 goes at about 11mbit/s
usb2 goes at 480mbit/s

so usb2 is faster and on some things necessary.

also unless you want the hub to be portable, try and get a powered USB hub, one that ocmes with an AC adapter, this means you can run high powered devices off it, examples include, hard drives, charge ipods and batteries, (anything with a motor or a battery in it)

oh and all the brands are the same.

i'v bought about 10 off ebay for varous people and they've all been fine

Try Compusa.com

Ask for Ron Lisowski he got me several different models.

He would be glad to help you.

Does anyone make ether a eSATA to USB hub or a eSATA to mini usb cord?

im looking for a USB hub that plugs into an eSATA port, and so far this seems to not exist. Has anyone seen one or know a way to do it?

How to Create a Network-Attached-Storage (NAS) Drive from many USB Drives?

I have a number of USB-connected external hard disks that I would like to make available on my local network.

Therefore, I'm wondering if there's such a thing as a device (like a USB hub) to which I can attach all the USB drives and then connect the device to the network, like a network-attached-storage (NAS) -style of thing?

Thanks.
