Question is quite self explanatory. Is it patch or crossover?
Random info about my setup:
My router/modem combo is a 2Wire 2701HG-E (via AT&T)
My network switch is a DLink DES-1105
Distance travel is ~50 feet. (that is really random)
Standard Ethernet Cable.

I had the 2wire 1800g or something, i switched to com cast but it is a router. no need to connect another router to it or you will run into some problems.
If you have a standard modem, a simple Ethernet switch will not do. you would need a router for that. Switches are for simple **** like connecting xbox's together or small networks. Internet wise though, need a router.

I’m sure nowadays internet play most important role in daily life. to simplify things, internet providers comes out with mobile broadband to ensure that we are always connected to internet where ever we are. This include Maxis, with their newly introduced Maxis iPad data plan.
Maxis Wi-Fi Broadband Modem Price
In previous I’ve explained of the Maxis iPad data plan, now it’s time for me to introduce you with the new Maxis Wi-Fi broadband Modem. Like mentioned earlier, you can either use this plan directly into your iPad, or using this Maxis Wi-Fi broadband modem.
The Wi-Fi modem (E5832) is just RM380 without contract or RM280 for 6 monts of contract. It uses a SIM card as usual, and users are able to subscribe the broadband services by Maxis, in my case, the Apple iPad data plan.
