Is it a problem to use a laptop dvd drive as a burner?

I have a dvd drive in my Laptop, that is apparently a burner since it has succesfully burned several disks. But dose burning on a laptop burner. cause the laser to wear out very quickly?

no no no no no. they build laptops pretty densely. if they put the ability to burn discs into it, then you know that you can use, and use it often, because a disc drive is one of the last things to wear out on any computer.

No, the laser will not wear out. In fact, it should outlast the laptop itself.

Ya. my suggestion is use an external DVD writer.

Are internal blu ray players the same size as regular internal DVD players?

Im thinking of getting an internal blue ray player this weekend.my only concern is that it wont fit.my computer has a small form factor case. Its not really small like some of them are and its big enough for an internal DVD drive which it already has.Are blue ray Drives and DVD drives all the same size?

The DVD drives fit a standard, depending on whether its a laptop DVD or a desktop DVD player. You didn'y say what computer you have so a exact answer is difficult to give.

Yes Blu-ray and DVD burners fit in the same 5.25' bay slots…if you have a laptop the Blu-ray too, is the same size as a DVD drive for laptops.

Yes they are the same conventional size. unless it specifically says, 'slimline' or something similar in the description. they have universal screw slots aswell, as long as it is branded…

It should be the same size as a DVD drive.
