How can I store my photos while in Africa?

I will be going to africa this summer for over a month and will not be bringing my computer. I am an avid photographer and have an 8gb, 4gb, 2gb, and 1gb compact flash card that I will surely fill up (probably within a few days). what is the best way to store these photos so I can erase the card and take more pictures. I want the transfer process to run smoothly so no photos are lost. I am fine carrying around an external hard drive. Also, I want to stay away from using other computers (i.e. computer cafes) as I will be a safari for several days and will have no computer access. Thanks!

When I travel for any length of time, I always take my notebook computer. I need to keep contact via email and using Skype for over broadband telephonic contact when I can find a good broadband connection.

I then copy all my photos to my computer and later when I have enough, I burn DVD's as backup.

My most recent trip was nine and a half weeks in the Caribbean where I shot over 20 gb in images using a 6 mp DSLR. if I were to do that today, I would have included a 1 tb external drive (under $120) with my notebook computer.

At the cost of CF cards now ($12 for fast gb cards) buy a lot of them. You should not skimp on having extra cards so you can use your camera over a few days without running out of space. Alternative "picture wallets" can cost over $350, far more expensive than ten or fifteen extra 4 gb cards.
