The 4-year-old company said the funding, led by venture capital company new Enterprise Associations, will be used to add manufacturing capacity and build out its sales channels.
Leyden Energy’s batteries last week become available from online retailer Dr. Battery, which is offering “Advanced Pro” battery replacements for Acer, Gateway, Lenovo/IBM, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and Toshiba notebooks.
A conventional battery has between 350 and 400 charge cycles before performance starts degrading. the Leyden Energy batteries offered by Dr. Battery will have more than 800 recharge cycles and will work with “like new performance” for more than two years, according to Dr. Battery.
Fremont, Calif.-based Leyden Energy increases the life of all types of lithium ion batteries with its electrolyte material. the electrolyte is made of a lithium salt that remains stable at higher temperatures and slows the degradation that occurs with traditional lithium ion batteries, according to the company. the new electrolyte does not add to the production costs of batteries, CEO Aakar Patel said in may.
The company is targeting the market for battery replacements for consumer electronics, including laptops, phones, andtablets. it also expects to develop a line of batteries for vehicles.

I use my laptop almost 24/7 and the bottom of it gets hot, almost too hot. I shut it off every now and then usually with the charger in it. can the laptop battery explode if it got too hot?
you should buy a laptop cooler..heat damage can really damage your laptop ….Its amazing how many people have broken their laptops cause the insist on blocking the vents underneath their laptop by placing the laptop on their beds whilst using it
Nothing was happen when I use my laptop for more than 3 years even the adapter is too hot to touch. It not exploded.

It’s been a while since we met the last representative of the new, promising series of Acer notebooks – Timeline. the elegant lines, good performance and recognisable design were accompanied by excellent battery autonomy and a reasonable price, which made these models very attractive. this time around, it’s another “sinking” – Acer’s Aspire 5830T, from the new TimelineX generation. the recognisable ground aluminium lid with a silver Acer logo is present here as well. besides the fact that pressure on the lid causes no display distortion, the aluminium surface also provides additional ruggedness and strength to the notebook. the sharp lines are usually indicative of business models, but Acer has used a small trick – all edges are rounded or mildly tilted against the surface they’re facing, which makes the new TimelineX models much more attractive to a wider number of customers.
A display diagonal just over 15” has allowed designers to fit the keyboard with an integral numeric keypad below. the cursor key section has suffered the most, since they’ve been reduced to a third of their usual size, but the compromise is more than welcome if it’s the numerical section that’s traded for it. the keyboard is Chiclet-type, very similar to that seen on modern Apple notebooks, and the frame that it’s placed in is also made of aluminium, which makes typing a pleasant experience. the aluminium frame spreads all the way to the folding section, creating a single piece carrying the speakers, LEDs and additional keys. Speaking of which, we have to stress that the 2.0 speaker system is Dolby Home Theatre-certified, and produces sound of extraordinary quality for a notebook-based system. If there’s anything to reproach to the keyboard section, it’s the lack of backlight, which would have fit in perfectly into this notebook. the firm plastic frames the touchpad and accompanying buttons, which makes the palm-rest very firm. Truth be told, this is likely due to the weight of the components located below than the quality of the plastic itself, but the final result is what matters – bending is virtually non-existent. the touchpad itself is located at the not-too-popular left-middle, which can bother some users while typing, as it may occur that you press the touchpad with your palms, which causes the text to suddenly shift to the middle of the paragraph, four lines above or below… Luckily, the touchpad can be turned off via a shortcut, so Fn+F7 is definitely a combination to remember if you’re typing a lot.
the rich list of ports and slots lacks only Express Card to be complete, but since this is one of the slots than many have and few use, we can’t take this as a serious drawback. Fans of HD multimedia will be glad to see HDMI and optical S/PDIF connectors, which enables you to enjoy films and music at a high-definition level. the right side contains the DVD writer, while the opposite side has grid openings used by the cooler to exhaust hot air.
the new-gen Core i5, with its two physical and four virtual cores, is bound to be enough for fulfilling most of advanced users’ desires, while the high clock will enable even the difficult tasks to be done very efficiently. to support all this, there’s 3 GB DDR3 RAM working at 1333 MHz, while the 320 GB hard disk might be a bit bigger, especially with all the HD multimedia storage requirements. Turbo Boost works flawlessly in Core i5, which means that the CPU rises from its default 2.3 GHz to almost 3 GHz if needed. It’s a shame that this model doesn’t have a discreet graphics solution, instead relying on the integrated graphics of the CPU. the new GPU will be sufficient to run less demanding games at minimum detail levels, but no more than that, as obvious from the chart results.
the display is the bright side of this model – literally. even with brightness at minimum, the user can still work conveniently with the PC (except if you take the PC outdoors), while maximum brightness will make the LED backlight cope rather nicely with any reflection created by the glare layer of this display. A resolution of 1366×768 is standard for this display size, although we wouldn’t have minded a larger one, since the notebook isn’t intended for gaming anyway, so there wouldn’t be a drop in performance or anything.
