Problems connecting to vodafone mobile broadband on ubuntu?

I have a dell laptop with windows xp installed. I wanted to try a linux OS so downloaded Ubuntu onto a flash drive, this means I can boot that up instead of windows and it works fine. the only problem is I cant get it to even recognise the mobile broadband USB, and so can't get an internet connection. If I run Ubuntu within windows (on a virtual drive) the connection works fine, I think this is because it is using the windows connection. I do not have a landline, so the 3g usb stick is the only option I have there. I wanted to eventually get rid of windows and just use ubuntu, however, won't be able to do this if I can't connect to the internet. have searched google but found nothing to help me, and would appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions as to how I could to resolve this, thanks.

What is the best UK PAYG SIM card for GPRS for use on a laptop?

I have a GPRS data card for use on a laptop. it is unlocked so will work on any network. Which network has the best price for occassional data use?

What I would suggest is look up what each provider charges per meg, it usally goes down to more you use. In order to save money, Networks have bundles of megs that you can use for a set price.

i would say 02 ive been with htem 6 yeaars and on pay as go u get 300 free txts a month evrytine u put 10 pound on phone and free treats good luck hope u find one u want
