ArenaNet lead content designer Colin Johanson says their “fully branching single player storyline” in Guild Wars 2 is a “huge part” of the free-to-play MMO.In fact it’s “potentially the best RPG” we’ll ever play, says Johanson, and that’s “in the middle of an MMO.” more solo games will embrace “light MMO elements”.”I think you’re starting to see everything headed more and more towards online connectivity, and elements that would traditionally only exists as offline components are slowly becoming online-orientated,” noted ArenaNet’s Colin Johanson.”If you look at Guild Wars 2, we have a fully branching single player storyline that you can bring your friends along to experience it with you. That’s a huge part of Guild Wars 2. It’s potentially the best RPG you’ve ever played, and that’s in the middle of an MMO.”"Looking at games on consoles; there are more and more games coming out with light MMO elements like this,” he continued.Rockstar Games recently produced such a title with online connectivity. “Take Red Dead Redemption for example, when you got to make your posse and go out and play together. That’s a game that, traditionally, wouldn’t have had an online element to it.”"But studios are starting to add this kind of element to games, and the thing is, you’re going to see more of that as developers find new ways to take advantage of the online space.” Online components for videogames today become a matter of necessity to survive.”Games that have the highest retention rates are also the games that have online communities. These are games that you play with your friends, and that keeps people coming back for more,” commented the lead content designer.”This is also the same reason why people keep on coming back to MMOs. many people say, ‘Well, I was going to play this game, but none of my friends are playing it. so I’ll play the game that all of my friends are playing instead.’”"That sense of community and the bond that comes with playing among friends is powerful, and it keeps people invested in the games they play.”"You’re going to see more of that, as we already see it with phone games, iPad games, and all of that is turning increasingly towards online gaming too.”Guild Wars 2 will entered a closed beta phase before 2011 ends, affirms ArenaNet. Diablo III verschijnt pas begin 2012
October 15th, 2011 — diablo Diablo 2
Op-ed: Busted beetle blues: How the ailing vehicle bewitches, bothers and bewilders best of us
October 8th, 2011 — Internet Game Accessories
My Volkswagen bug, Beetle Bailey, is at the shop. again.
This car has been towed, coaxed and cursed into the repair shop’s parking lot more times than I can admit without cringing. I was eight years old when it was built, and that eight-year-old’s idealism made me think an aging, stick-shift Beetle was an appropriate choice for a girl who could neither replace a headlight nor drive a standard.
I wish I had sent that eight-year-old to her room.
Returning home from a hiking trip on Saturday, I parked outside my apartment and was astonished that the door bounced back at me when I tried to slam it shut. somehow, the tumbler inside the lock was stuck upright, so it would only hit the hook on the car instead of latching onto it.
In trying to solve the problem myself, I managed to get my passenger side door’s lock stuck as well.
I ended up opening my spare package of boot laces, creating a series of twists and knots to tie the doors to the headrests to keep them from swinging open, and driving slowly to the garage. I wove a web out of half-remembered highschool physics labs, eyeballing angles and judging the tensile strengths of my car’s accessories. somehow, it held.
Over the summer, the starter failed and I had a tow truck drop me off at work. the driver was from Sullivan Towing — which holds a contract with the university — and we had a lively conversation about on-campus towing on the way to Bangor.
Before that, an exhaust leak delayed my inspection sticker. a piece of the parking brake was stuck for weeks before I noticed a rear wheel squeaking. I once hit a pothole hard enough to bend the rim of a tire and had to stop at a gas station so I could beg to use a mallet to bend it back before all the air leaked out.
The motor in one power window died and I was constantly tugging at the glass to keep it rolled up before shelling out the $400 to fix it. the motor in the other window is dying so I keep a piece of Scotch tape over the switch to prevent passengers from using its last gasps.
And there was that 17-year-old who rear-ended me.
My earlier cars, the highschool rust-bucket and the hand-me-down replacement, weren’t much more reliable. when I bought the Beetle, I had high hopes. the Carfax Vehicle History Report said it really had been owned by two little old ladies and before that, it had been part of a corporate fleet.
Cars may not be my forte, but I can usually manage to keep air in the tires and gas in the tanks. And in Maine, they’re a necessity.
The University of Maine campus is an exception to the state’s rule of far-flung community planning and I gladly ride my bike to classes, but when I need to get to work in Bangor, or when I finally laundry, I need that car to get there.
In August, Kelley Blue Book released the top ten cars for college students for 2011. the 1998 Volkswagen Beetle didn’t make the cut.
I want this car to make it to graduation day more than I want my diploma. it will be a point of pride if I can drive myself to the ceremony, elbow propped in the open window and tassel flipping in the breeze. Of course, I also want to complete my thesis and keep my GPA from plunging, but the real testament to a year well-done will be whether the Beetle has been sent to the scrap heap.
Despite the headaches the Beetle gives me, the temporary temper and clenched jaw as I mutter on my way to the shop, I know the car will inevitably have another problem. there is a comfort in knowing that, even if it isn’t comfortable for my wallet. although I’m not the one getting grease under my fingernails while peering into the engine’s entrails, I can be confident knowing the problem is only mechanical: there has to be a solution.
Nothing else about senior year is that clear-cut.
I can spend hours propped over textbooks, but I can’t know every question that will be on the test.
I can edit pages of my thesis until my fingers are numb, but I can’t know if my committee will like what I churn out.
So I’m committed to this car. I’m committed to handing over my debit card and listening to the mechanics talk about valves and pipes I’ve never seen in order to have something in my life that is predictable.
I can’t know what lies beyond graduation.
And, I just remembered I need an oil change.

Sony announces two Android tablets
September 19th, 2011 — sony Ps2games
As reported by the Mobile Indian in July, Sony has launched two tablets which will be available in the market by the end of this year.
Sony has renamed both the devices and now the larger of them, S1, will be known as Sony Tablet S and the smaller foldable tablet will be known as Sony Tablet P.
Sony S is a 9.4 inch device with a curved top, much like a folded magazine, which makes it easy to handle for long hours. Tablet P is a dual screen clamshell device aimed particularly at people looking for both mobility and usability. Both tablets use Nvidia Tegra 2 processors and run a customised version of Android Honeycomb operating system.
Both devices run on Android — Android 3.1 on Sony Tablet S; while Sony Tablet P is equipped with Android 3.2. Both also feature the PlayStation suite, which will enable them to download and run PS certified content. there is not much difference between the two tablets as far as functionality and hardware go.
“These devices truly represent the best of everything Sony has to offer,” said Mike Lucas, senior vice president of Sony Electronics’ Networked Technology and Services Division. “From hardware to software and services, Sony Tablet devices embody all our innovations rolled into one.”
The tablets P and S will come with integrated support for Sony’s Qriocity service that allows streaming of multimedia content to various Sony devices like Bravia, PlayStation etc. Along with that, both tablets will also be Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certified, which will help users play multimedia content from the tablet on a DLNA capable display such as a TV. Tablet S will be compatible with a Sony remote control that will work on a number of Sony devices as well.
The Sony Tablet S device is available in 16 GB and 32 GB versions and will be sold at Sony Stores including online and at other authorised retailers nationwide from this year end for about $500 or approximately Rs 23,000 and $600 or Rs 27,500.
Whereas the Sony Tablet P is still awaiting a final launch date and price tag, it is expected that both the tablets will go on sale by the end of this year.

Would a Playstation 3 40gb Disc Drive work in a 80gb system?
September 6th, 2011 — sony Playstation 3 Games
Im thinking about buying an diffrent system on ebay with a diffrent HDD would it work in the system?
you'd have to google your exact model ps3 and find out the model or part number of blu-ray drive and laser used in it then compare to the part used in the other ps3 .
sony used several different disc drives and you can't interchange the parts .
you'd be better off just buying a used ps3 that's in working order or buy a cheaper used 40 gig that you can swap parts with and then buying a larger hdd since an hdd is only going to cost from $40-$60 for a 250 or 500 gig
a good used 40 gig should cost about $150 so for about $200 you'd have a 500 gig ps3
