For the last few weeks my mouse (steelseries ikari laser) would click 1 to 4 times from a single click (i.e. click back button in browser and it goes back 2 pages). I just dealt with it assuming something was wrong with the mouse.
However, since yesterday, my mouse has been freezing every couple of seconds for a few seconds(whole computer does split second freezes as well if I try to move the mouse and vista loading symbol is beside the cursor) and has been pretty much unusable. The only things I really did yesterday was uninstall a few programs, copy some files to a usb drive and install a new power supply.
I've discovered that the freezing happens only when a file called mobsync.exe is running (it's some sort of microsoft sync program that you can't turn off in Vista). if I try to end the process from task manager, the mouse stops freezing (the double clicks still happen), but mobsync.exe usually starts back up a few seconds later. Occasionally it won't start back up, but if I close task manager, my mouse immediately freezes and mobsync.exe is back.
I also found a registry file:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoft… entVersionWINEVTPublishers{b44aec44-3… df3-10306abf19b2}
If I change 'enabled' from 1 to 0, the freezing stops for the most part (though I noticed a couple quick stops in the cursor).
Unfortunately it's not a problem with the mouse. I've tested the same mouse on other computers and it works perfectly. other mouses work mine on my computer as well (razer lachesis for example), just not the ikari.
I also attempted to reinstall drivers to no avail.
Any ideas?
do you have the program mobsync.exe on your other computers? try uninstalling the program then try your mouse if mouse works fine then reinstall the program. if that does not help then go to microsoft and search for a fix.
