hi everybody. i am new to the electrical world and have no idea about electrics.
i need to somehow get electricity from my main consumer unit in the house by running a wire out of the house wall leading into the backgarden. 15metres down the garden will be the log cabin, which ive bought a consumer unit with plug sockets on it.
what sort of wire would i need? how thick? armoured cable?
the details of the consumer unit are as follows:
The Consumer Unit UK1 is a unit that consists of a 2 piece VO rated Moulded Base and Cover with 2 x 25mm, 12 x 20mm Conduit Knockouts and 7 Knockouts for Twin and Earth Glands. the unit carries the CE mark and the front cover is hinged at the bottom and is secured by 2 inset fastening screws at the top. Items included within the unit are:
1 x 63 Amp QA15C, 30ma Earth Leakage Unit to IEC 61008 for people protection
1 x 16 Amp QA-1 (13) Circuit Breaker to IEC 60898 to protect the Socket Outlets.
1 x 6 Amp QA-1 (13) Circuit Breaker to IEC 60898 to protect the Bulkhead Light.
1 x QA Safety Blank.
1 x 12 way Mini Rail Mounting Tray with spare space to accomodate another 6 x QA 13mm Circuit Breakers.
1 x PEN Neutral and Earth Bar
3 x 13 Amp Socket Outlets to BS 1363
3 x 16 Amp Switches to switch the Socket Outlets to SABS 163-1978.
1 x 60-Watt Bulkhead Light to BS 4533: Section 102.1:1990. (Lamp not included)
1 x 60 Watt BC Lamp Holder to BS 61184.
1 x 16 Amp Switch to switch the Bulkhead Light to SABS 163-1978.
Ready Board can be used as a Consumer Unit to BS EN 60439-3:1991 including Amendment 1
4 x Wall Fixing Plugs and Fixing Screws.
Fully protected by an R.C.D. (Residual current device that measures the electrical current on the outgoing live and return neutral conductors. if any current imbalance exceeds the set trip value it turns off the power supply.)
Approved to BS EN 60439-3
i am planning on using the electicity for a table saw, belt sander, electronic drumkit and other various tools. would the consumer unit described be ok for this????
any help would be much appreciated. thankyou
Forget the idea unless you get an electrician to do it for you.
Use an RCD plug at the house and run a heavy-duty extension lead out to the shed.
Keep it dry throughout.
You won't want to see this, but Pauline and Nelly 35 are right.
The fact that you admit that you don't know anything about the subject is worrying. you could inadvertently make some very dangerous mistakes. if nothing else, your installation may not conform to BS7671 and it could be hazardous for anyone maintaining it after you.
You must get an approved and registered electrician to do this for you. the law is very clear about this.
Part P of the Building Regulations specify that certain types of electrical installations must be tested and a certificate (in the correct form) provided. the work must also be registered with your Local Authority. Outside installations including sheds are included within the scope of this.
If you do not comply with part P then you will be committing an offence and, apart from prosecution, your household insurance my be made invalid and you could have problems when you sell the house and can't produce the Test certificate and registration. That is when you will certainly be "found out", if not before.
Please don't do this.. just run an extension lead from your house or garage with an RCD plug at the house/garage end.
If you are running te cable outside, you'll need to use armoured cable, wic can be run either above or below (60cm below the surface with warning tape). I would suggest that you use 10mm thickness to ensure that you do not have a drop in current between the circuit board in the house and the log cabin's board.
I would also suggest that you use a competent electrician for the installation to ensure that you are adequately protected. this is of importance if you are considering at some point selling/vacating your current property as a potential occupier would like to know that all of the electrical system is safe/installed correctly to the standards applicable at that time.
If you must do it yourself, I have attached a link to a supplier of 10mm armoured cable so that you can start comparing prices (alternatives are electrical wholesalers not a DIY shop who charge over the odds).

The following are practice problems to prepare for a physics exam. Any help would be most appreciated.
8. what is the advantage of a padded dashboard compared to a rigid dashboard in reducing injuries during collisions? explain using momentum and impulse ideas.
12. A truck and a bicycle are moving side by side with the same velocity. Which, if either, will require the larger impulse to bring it to a halt? explain.
20. Two shotguns are identical in every respect (including the size of the shell fired) except that one has twice the mass of the other. Which gun will tend to recoil with greater velocity when fired? explain.
28. is the collision in question 24 elastic, partially inelastic, or perfectly inelastic? explain. (Suppose an astronaut in outer space suddenly discovers that the tether connecting her to the space shuttle is cut and she is slowly7 drifting away from the shuttle. Assuming that she is wearing a tool belt holding several wrenches, how can she move herself back toward the shuttle? explain.)

My job position is a technical one, I program and inspect, and troubleshoot fire alarm and security systems.
I wear steel toed boots, have a tool belt, the whole nine yards…
A friend of mine, had a pink hard hat made for me, with my name on it!
What do you think? I work with ALL men, I am the only lady with my job position, their hard hats are blue..however, the hardhats do not have the company name on them. so do you think it would raise too many eyebrows, or be considered unprofessional to use my new pink hard hat on a daily basis….?? (it's really cute, and up to code)
I think it'd be great!! Go for it!!
iWith respect, I try to blend in and do not want my head higher than others in the group: it makes me an easy target.
Wear it proudly!
Have a playgirl type sticker on the back, too.
As long as it is up to code with the governing safety commissions then it should be fine.you should also get matching Safety Glasses and Gloves.
Go for it girl, stand tall, wear it with pride, you never know you may even start a trend, lol
Wear it if you like. you will be making a statement for feminism. If you are not a feminist wear the one you have alway worn. whatever you are comfortable with
Wear it,be proud.you are the only one, and must stand out..
I think you should wear it, so what if you turn a few heads.

They will be reveling all of the SVR details on IGN.com next week and they reveled the box art of the game.. looks great.
I think your Road to Wrestlemania with the created superstar winning NXT would be awesome..
Also i do hope they have the punjabi prison match..
It all looks good except some of the R2WM people and all the championship belts, Also I don't think they are bringing back GM mode.

It is a 1990 Chevy s10 Blazer 4.3l v6.
lol no. theres certail tool to make it easier but other than that wrenches will do. it depends what you have to take apart to get to it too..
It helps to have a Serp Belt Idler Tension wrench, that is a long bar about 3 foot, that has crows feet wrench attachments to it that gives you the fulcrum you need to slack the belt.
You can get one at a parts store near you:
online at harbor freight.
harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/di…
You can get a serpentine belt kit or use a 3/8"or 1/2" long arm ratchet with the correct socket.
You could actually do it by hand; I've done it myself. but anything long and sturdy will work to release the tension on the tensioner.
Yes. you can usually go to an auto parts store and rent one or they will let you use it for free if you do it right in the parking lot. it goes into the belt tensioner and u pull on it to release the tension to remove the old and put on the new. Parts stores like Auto Zone have specialty tools that u can rent or borrow but u will have to leave a deposit to ensure that u will return it.
