And – what is the question?

i have a victorinox skipper, and the blade is serrated… i know that it'll stay sharp for a long time, but i do wanna have some kind of sharpener for when it gets dull… so is there any kind of serrated knife/blade sharpener?? thats specially made for sharpening serrated blades…

yeah, you can find them around somewhere, i got mine at a bass pro shop. it looks like a pen almost.

They make a pretty bold claim! but so many reviewers at Amazon say it's the best they've ever used. just wanted to make sure I wasn't being tricked by clever marketing… has anyone tried this knife sharpener? Is it really the best?

OK… let's get a few things straight:

a) the average person has no clue as to what is required to sharpen a knife, or whether the knife is bevel ground, hollow-ground, scalloped, serrated or anything else.

b) The average person has never used a really sharp knife either in the kitchen or anywhere else.

With that in mind, the AnySharp is an excellent knife sharpener for the average person. it does an adequate job of making the typical kitchen knife reasonably sharp for reasonably safe use – and for the record dull knives cause far more injuries than sharp knives. this is the sort of tool that my wife might use 'between times' as she has no particular interest in learning how to use all the paraphernalia required for a full sharpening.

But, the very 'best' knife sharpener is experience and skill and those tools that are specific to each type of edge requiring treatment. one size does not hardly fit all.

I was just wondering if a sharpening steel ever needs to be replaced? I have a HENCKELS GOURMET SET that came with a steel in the block. I was curious to know if the steel ever needs replacing or will it pretty much last indefinitely? I have a mechanical sharpener that I use to sharpen my knives. I use the steel afterward to hone the edge and also to maintain the edge between sharpenings. Just wondering about this.Obviously, if I find that my knives get dull sooner ,that would be an indication, but aside from this ,what else would indicate when it's time to replace?

Most likely you'll never have to replace the steel. however, if your steel becomes slippery smooth than it's lost the ability to hone the edge.
