South African IT distributor Esquire has announced a tie-up with gaming specialist Antec

South African IT distributor Esquire has announced a tie-up with gaming specialist Antec. The distribution deal will see Esquire carry Antec’s high performance computer components and accessories targeted at gaming enthusiasts, PC upgraders and those looking to build their own PCs.

Asgar Mahomed, managing director at Esquire, reckons that the distributor can open up new channels for Antec including through the South African retail channel. Esquire’s regional branches will also look to sell Antec products to resellers and partners across the border in Swaziland, Maputo, Botswana, Namibia and Uganda.

“We look forward to this successful and long term business partnership with Antec as this is another step in our strategic approach to have world class brands in our portfolio.” concluded Mahomed.

Nick Davies, a reporter for the Guardian newspaper of London who unveiled the phone hacking practices of News of the World (NOTW) tabloid has agreed to come out with a book regarding the incident.

Davies had spent more than two years following the case and finding out sources who could help in verifying that the reporters of NOTW had illegally tapped cell phones of celebrities, politicians and a young murder victim to find out private details so that they could flash it in the tabloid’s front pages.

The issue had come to light after Davies reported that News Corp paid 1 million pounds to settle legal cases which were related to the phone hacking by the staff of the tabloid.

The disclosure of the phone hacking scandal gave rise to widespread public anger and led investigations  into News Corp’s other operations. Top officials of the company have also been arrested and Rupert Murdoch and his son James had to testify in front of a British parliamentary committee.

The book has been titled “HACK ATTACK: How the Truth Caught up with the World’s Most Powerful Man”, and will be published by Faber and Faber Inc.

The publisher announced that publishing has been planned for the end of 2012.
