When grounding WITH a wrist strap where do I attach it?

After putting on the wrist strap do I just attach it to bare metal INSIDE the case or OUTSIDE or do I just put it into an grounded outlet? also should I leave the PSU plugged in? when I use a wrist strap can I use both hands or only the one I put it on?

By the way I am moving all the components from my old computer into a cooler Master Haf X

You can attach the grounding strap to any bare metal inside or outside the case (the case is grounded to the motherboard and power supply).

You're best to unplug the computer. By using the wriststrap, you have the same electric potential as the case/motherboard, so there will be no static discharge when you insert or remove an item.

Power supplies have potentially high voltage, but no significant amount of static electricity.

A wriststrap typically includes a 1 megohm or higher resistor between the wrist and the clamp. that way, if you happen to connect the clamp to a live circuit, you don't light up like a simple copper wire.

You can use either hand, or your toes if you're that agile while connected via a wristband. it grounds your entire body.

If you get zapped when touching any metal object in the workplace, a wristband is virtually a necessity. that indicates low humidity and high static conditions. usually touching the metal case before touching the component is sufficient to discharge any residual static, but a wriststrap makes it almost foolproof.

Okay, an intelligent question.

1.) it doesn't matter if inside or outside; it simply needs to be a part that is Grounded (basically but not limited to meaning "on the ground"), so that the static discharge can surge from you towards it and through the strap, once you gain the static from something else.

2.) No, you must not leave the PSU plugged in. it is the greatest source of static electricity in your vicinity.

3.) In reality, this is a useless precautionary measure. I've built dozens of systems without a strap and never had a component die on me as a result of static discharge.

The best procedure is to connect the chassis' of the two computers together and connect to a grounded outlet with the power switched off. Connect the wrist strap to the grounded chassis of one of the computers.

Give it a break already.

Tamrac express or crumpler 5 million dollar home bag for Nikon d40?

Since I'm a girl, I'm looking for a fashionable SLR bag for my Nikon D40.I currently have just the D40 kit lens but in terms of space for future lenses what do you recommend, the crumpler 4 or 5 million or the tamrac express 6 or 7?

How well do velcro straps hold up on wakebaording bindings?

I have always had bindings with a lace system but am looking to get a new pair. I really like the 2010 liquid force vantage bindings but am worried about the durability of the velcro straps, there are no laces just three velcro straps (my last bindings have lasted me seven years). I appreciate any and all input.

I Lost All My Camera Accesories!!!!?

I bought a panasonic DMC-LZ10 like two weeks ago. I remember taking the camera and it's case out of it's box then leaving it somewhere(in my house). we have been getting ready to move so constantly packing and throwing away things. now I can't seem to find the box. Which I never actually looked at closely but from other sites there was suppose to be
* the 10.1 effective Megapixel Lumix DMC-LZ10 camera
* Two AA alkaline batteries
* Wrist strap
* USB cable
* A/V cable
* CD-ROM featuring PhotoFunStudio, ArcSoft Software Suite, Adobe Reader, QuickTime, and drivers
* 138 page camera manual (printed)
So I've basically lost all of that. now I'm hoping it's still in the house but after 4 days of continously scouring each and every room in the house i have a feeling my mother threw it out.

Now what can I do. Is it possible to get my warranty to kick in and help me even though i'm not sure I can register the product with only the camera and the reciept. I bought it online. Do I say all the accesories got mysteriously damaged or do I just tell them the truth IF my warranty covers this.
Also can these things jsut be bought seperately from like best buy?
