How can I PAT (portable appliance test) electric cookers when they are connected with 30a cable to a wall socket? PAT test is recommended in the UK for electrical appliances.

I've been trying pat testing many surge protected extension leads however i seem to get frequent fails and i cant seem to get around it.

What is the correct method of pat testing a surge protected extension with the fluke 6500 tester and what is correct settings for the test.

Ask a certified PAT testing person.

Likelly you cannot, becuase PAT testing typically uses a device called a Megger, which applies a really high voltage on the device under test, a voltage which the MOVs in the surge protector absorb and would show as a short on the Megger.

They're very similar tests. What i'm looking for is the reason why they're so similar yet one is potentially damaging to the motor and the other is not. What is it the testers do that make them different from each other.
