It so happened that while the the notebook was on, a child introduced some wire inside one of the 2 USB ports. it produced a loud sound and the notebook was off. Since then the ports are not working. I tried using a USB Card in the PCMCIA slot but this also did not work. can any one help me? is there any other method by which I could connect my Printer, Scaner or digital camera to the notebook? otherwise the notebook is functioning normaly.
it might be hardware problem. if not, try to reinstall the driver for usb. ..
I think this might have damaged your notebook's few of its communication buses and controllers. So in all probability, none of the USB or the PCMCIA would work. Please check if the other ports like the S-Video out or the firewire work or not.The only option you have ,as of ow, is to take your machine to a service centre.
CHECK WHICH U S B CARD IS INSTALLED IN YOU PC AND AND SEARCH a SUITBLE DRIVER FOR IT THEN INSTALL IT FROM DEVICE OF COMPUTER

once i deleted few images and vidio clips from my mmc memory card. now i want to recover the images and vidio clips from that mmc memory card. please suggest me how to recover them.
A free software called RECUVA can help you recover deleted files from your memory card. But it may not be able to restore files that have been overwritten several times. Try googling for other free software as well.
If you have taken more pictures then you might not be able to retrieve them.
Try this….you need a card reader and photo recovery software. recuva.com free do a deep scan.
There are many free softwares availabe for MMC Restore. most are free and working. Try googling it.

I have a compaq laptop with USB 1.1 connectors, and I want to get a USB 2.0 PC card. How do the PC cards work? Will the card read the USB 2.0 device through the card, even though the regular connectors are USB 1.1?
I had the same problem. You got to buy the usb 2.0 right. Then open the computer and there should be cover plates on the back of the pc. Take out the usb 1.1 if possile from inside the pc. If not you just take off one of those covers and then you get the usb 2.0 and insert it to the motherboard. Make sure the usb ports are facing out to where you could connect them. I hope this isnt confusing but you got to open the computer up and manually install it. its very simple.
it should, but the speed will also be limited by the chipset and whatever other slow componenets there are because if it is old enough to have usb 1.1 than it will be slow no matter what. a pc card usb 2.0 card will probably not give you that much of a speed break on an old laptop like that.

Corporate cellular dealer, Link Telecom, a TeleWare partner, has entered into a partnership with Orbit Research ltd, a satellite communications specialist.
The collaboration will provide satellite backhaul solutions to an integrated voice and data communications station for rapid deployment.
Orbit Research Ltd’s satellite internet solution provides secure, broadband-speed connections from IP based networks, with the advantage of always-on connectivity.
Satellite connection is provided via Orbit’s ViaOrbit UK hub. This ensures continuity of communications when rapid deployment is necessary, or permanent connections in remote locations where ADSL is not available.
The partnership will allow Link Telecom to provide links back through the ViaOrbit UK hub to PSTN and private corporate networks from remote locations. it also eliminates the need to install permanent network connections.
Link Telecom is implementing final tests of the ViaOrbit satellite backhaul with its voice, data and security solutions and for integration with networks technology provided by Private Mobile Networks. Private Mobile Networks is part of the TeleWare group.
The partnership will allow Link Telecom to provide fully integrated communications to its customers.
