Rate each computer out of 100 for high end tasks.
Computer 1:
Amd sempron 3400+
3GB ram
8800 gtx vid card
computer 2 :
core 2 duo e6300
3 gb ram
8800 gtx vid card
computer 3:
amd 64 x2 5600+
3 gb ram
8800 gtx vid card.
Computer 1: 10
Computer 2: 70
Computer 3: 50
In gaming, the cpu isn't a big factor as the gpu, so between the 5600+ and e6300, there isn't really a huge difference, but in other tasks, the e6300 dominates the 5600+.
Semprons are inferior because they have very small L2 Cache.
The core2 duo is superior to the amd dual core cpu's as well.
High to Low:
Comp 2
Comp 3
Comp 1
Yes the Semron is so much worse compared to some modern processors
Computer 1 -20
Computer 2 -70
Computer 3-60

i have decided to buy a core 2 duo e6600 next week but i have doubts on the e6600 by looking at bechmarks. Basically i want to know your opinions forgeting about the bechmarks. Is the e6600 much faster then the sempron. I mainly do video encoding, watching hd movies, burning videos and working with very heavy applications but i dont do gaming so i do mostly every high end task but gaming. Basically will the core 2 duo e6600 be much faster, is the e6600 faster then 25% over then sempron 3400+.
Please be honest with al your opinios thanks all answers appreciated.

yeah and a bigger power source
No you do not and you don't need a bigger supply unit also. but, for the best quality I would chage the fan.
It all depends on your motherboard. If you have a socket 754 mobo I would say no. If it is a socket 939 it might be OK. as it is only an XP I assume it is an obsolete socket a and as such is not worth bothering with, Socket a CPU's are a horrific price as they are so scarce. Upgrade the lot to AM2 or Socket 939.
You dont need 2 worry about anything. when you buy the Processor, the Fan will come with it, unless u are buying it OEM or second hand. If its boxed up then it will come with a Fan and Heatsink.

everyone says this processor sucks- AMD Sempron LE-1300 (2.3GHz, 800MHz, 512KB). im only using my computer for pictures and student stuff. so is this processor really really slow. or is it ok?
For pictures and word documents it's fine but if you start installing programs that run in the back it will slow your computer down greatly. 2.3 ghz is not bad at all. It's plenty fast for what you're using it for.
Sempron is like the equivalent of the intel celeron or pentium 4. its good for you, just cant do a lot at once.
Im doing video Q&A: youtube.com/watch?v=HiqGTNlgc…
Its absolutely fine don't listen to the "must haves" and cpu speed freaks.

My old computer that is. I poured 1200 into when it was new. it has an AMD Sempron, 1GB DDR2, 240GB HDD, Creative 5.1 Surround Sound, 128MB NVIDIA Graphics, Bluetooth, Dual DVDRW drives (one with Lightscribe), Reads any kind of memory card, and has Windows XP Home Premium and Ubuntu 9.10 installed.
Its pretty much worthless.
