Rebuild pool pump motor?

I have a sta-rite pool pump motor and it needs to be rebuilt. I think I can do it it my self but I need someone to tell me what a rebuild consists of and what parts need to be replaced?

It can be done but it is very hard to get the impeller off. The pump housing will have to be removed to replace the ball bearing. The bearing itself is not that much money. You will need a puller to remove the old one and a bearing press to install the new one. It is best to take the pump to a motor rebuilder. The guy we have close to here I know would want at least 75 bucks to rebuild it. And that is pretty good considering if you get that centrifugal switch out of whack on the rear bearing side then it is gonna be dang near impossible to get it back on there. I have rebuilt these pool pumps. It is not impossible but it is pretty tough. It might be worth it to just get a new one. I saw one up at ace hardware for $125 bucks. Yeah if you get that pool center to sell you a pump you may just be getting the old I have a pool I am rich I can afford it price. OOPZ!

If you are talking about the wet end (the pump itself), and depending on the model, you will need an impeller, shaft seal, housing gasket, and maybe a diffuser or volute. It is not a difficult job to rebuild the pump. if you are talking about the electric motor itself you are probably better off to just buy one. The pump or motor can be purchased separately.

A motor re-winder will charge you anywhere from $180 – $250 to do up your motor. A pool company will charge you this plus two service call outs to pick and reinstall.
They are a good old pump, and if it doesn't have too much rust on the bottom of the motor than its worth fixing.
Get someone to do it for you – they are a punish to work on (without you trying to hard the little motor bolts snap, and there is few tricks to them)

2- 6203 2rs bearings and a shaft seal. if its a sta-rite dura-glas its a great pump! ! and the motors can be repaired , skill level about a (8) dependig on the type of motor. AO SMITH are good, emerson wow are they a pain.(9.5) switch type..GE same as emerson. AO SMITH CENTURY CENTURION OR THE Y56Y FRAME are going to be the easy one for you to do, these you cant over instal the bearings on. this will lead to problems with your shaft seal tension on other motors. the E clip that is guide only whont sop you from pounding that bearing on too much.. GOOD LUCK ! dont hurt to try. and if you fail ? just look for your local POOL PUMP REPAIR GUY… about 75$ with the seal.. thats a deal ! jay

Buy a new one !

How does a pump from a fountain soda machine work?

I see flojet pump can either be CO2 or electrical powered. I attempting to make a drink dispensing machine DIY but I don't have my hands on an actual pump and would like to know how to "trigger" the pump. is CO2 only supplied when it needs to pump the liquid or is there constand CO2 pressure going to the pump and an electrical switch that when activated lets the pump run?
