What would be the best computer to buy at a great price?

Question by Usvart Jorge: What would be the best computer to buy at a great price? My computer recently crashed and I am now getting on only at school. What store/website can I buy a great computer at a great price? I prefer a Dell, but anything besides Acer will work.

I am looking for about a 500gb hard drive or maybe slightly larger, a good CPU, and 4+gb of RAM.

Answer by Diana BDell and Acer are brands, not computers. you may buy the wrong PC from the “right” brand.

If you are set on a specific brand, your best bet is to go to the manufacturer. Dell often has special deals.

Depending on what you’re looking for, anything can be a “good CPU”. the Pentium Dual Core a good, pretty much in the way that a Camry is a good car, but some people are willing to pay that premium for a quad core, or some multi-core extreme CPU.

I just bought a Dell Inspiron @ Best Buy – it was sort of an impulse buy as my older Dell was virus ridden. With an e7400 C2D, 6gb & a 600+ gb HD, it came to just under $ 600.

Dells are okay – they’re made so it’s harder to do serious upgrades. you won’t be able to hit high benchmarks, but you know it will work fine. my previous machine was a Dimension 3000, a budget computer that ran great (again – virus issues. I was careless in terms of internet security. Learn from my mistakes).

What would be the best thing to upgrade on my desktop?

I have a HP Pavilion a1130n, 2005 and I was wondering what the top things would be to upgrade for performance like with games and such. Here are the specs:
OS: XP SP2 build 2600.
Motherboard: MSI MS-7093
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 GHz 2000MT/s Socket 939
Hard Drive: 250GB SATA 7200rpm

A 10-generation old computer? the *best* thing to do is save your money and buy a modern computer. It'll cost a lot less than upgrading everything you need to upgrade. You need a graphics card, a faster motherboard and CPU (at least dual-core, if not i5 or i7) and probably more RAM.

You can upgrade the processor, ram and add a gpu of your choosing, but make sure it fits into the case.
