My system is a GATEWAY SELECT 1100 with the stock CPU running 640MB of PC133 SDRAM and 40 GB hard drive. It has a GEFORCE MX4000 video and SOUNDBLASTER LIVE sound cards, and all the drivers and BIOS are up to date. The MICRO-STAR motherboard is a K7T TURBO 2 (MS-6330 VERSION 2.1) that can support 1.5 GB(512MB times 3) of memory! The XP PALOMINO 1800+ runs very cool so I wont need to change my heatsink or fan.how fast/big do I dare go? I have been told I could go up to a XP 2200+ can/should I? what would YOU do?
I suggest you get a new pc because the cpu won't be able to support really high clock speeds. what is the socket # on your cpu and motherboard.
what MURUSAKI told was absolutely right, you won't find any difference, but you will find some difference in the display(a better one) if you are using the same graphic card.
i suggest you don't upgrade it
Maybe, depending on your budget, you can slightly upgrade the Mobo to support even better processors. The job gets bigger but, if you look around enough, there're systems out there for very cheap. This really isn't answering your question but I've been in a similar boat, constrained by limited funds.
