Sony A300K or Pentax 200D?

I'm looking at upgrading to a DSLR and I'm having trouble deciding which to buy. I'm stuck between the Sony A300K or the Pentax 200D.

I have a old Pentax k1000, so I could use my old lenses with that. but I've also used Sonys since I went digital, so I'm a big fan.

Help!! Any suggestions?

I would not worry about making the wrong decision. With those two cameras, any decision would be a good one.

It's hard to beat a Pentax K20D.

Are Vivitar lenses compatible with Sony a200 if you have a MINOLTA MD MC to a300 SONY a100 a200 adapter?

I recently purchased a 'MINOLTA MD MC to SONY a100 a200 a350 a700 adapter' and I want to buy some vivitar lenses but I am not sure if they are compatible with my camera with the MD, MC adapter. does anyone know if the lenses will work with my camera?

If you buy vivitar lenses with a Minolta MD/MC mount. your Sony has a Minolta Alpha mount. MD/MC to Alpha adapter is what you want and it looks .like that's what you got. I swear I hate how they dumb-down the adverts; it makes things much more complicated than they have to be.

Vivitar made lenses with many mounts, MD/MC is one. you can also get Sigma, Tameraon, Sakar and Minolta lenses with a MD/MC mount. It's the mount you are looking at, not the brand.

If you are familiar with working a Minolta manual-focus camera it will be no diffrent. if you're not it may be funny for a bit. you can't auto focus or use any auto modes. the aperture ring controls the aperture, the dial controls the shutter speed.

Many years ago Vivitar made good lenses. Then the company was bought by Hanimex (mid 1970s?) which was the kiss of death to quality as far as I was concerned. so any good lenses by Vivitar must be decades old and will certainly not have all the autofocus and exposure linkages that a modern camera demands. Stick to Tamron, Sigma or Tokina.
