It is a dream come true for designers and inventors when a casual doodle on a napkin becomes reality after many years. Timothy Pulver is the brain behind Mr. Spinwall, hardware that can make your wall spin with just a push of your finger.
The custom hardware bracket incorporates into the wall and is designed to support 3000lbs of weight. so, if you want to bring your living room outdoors, your wall hung television can now double as an amphitheater in the comfort of your own home.
Pulver’s casual sketch on a napkin 10 years ago is now a reality. After years of planning, market research, prototypes, patent pending and constructive criticism from friends and family, Mr. Spinwall is now on the market. Along with his business partner, Laura (who is also his wife, critic and client), Pulver is ready to conquer the outdoor living world with his invention.
Pulver has always been an inventor at heart, and he’s been working as a registered architect and interior designer for 22 years. The idea of inventing a spinning wall came to him when he and Laura were living in a “not so big home” and wanted to take their indoors outside. The idea was accepted by Laura immediately, since she is an avid football fan and loved the idea of being able to spin a wall and watch football outdoors.
Pulver said, “The million dollar moment was when University of Wisconsin’s marketing report said, ‘There is a potential demand for this in conjunction with outdoor living spaces,’ and counselors at SCORE [Service Corps of Retired Executives] did not say, ‘You are nuts.’”
The Pulvers tried out their spinning wall invention on their neighbors, to a chorus of dropped jaws. They knew the invention would be a hit.
What is it made of?
Mr. Spinwall is a custom component consisting of various brackets and ball bearings incorporated into the wall, making it possible to spin a section of wall with the touch of a finger. The wall is like any 6″ stud wall, but is insulated with a minimum of R-19 insulation and covered with Tyvek on the exterior to avoid leaks and drafts. on the inside it looks like an entertainment system with a media console at the bottom. on the outside, the spinning panel is protected by an overhang and water-sealed exterior doors. The panel has a perimeter brush sweep on all sides to protect the home from bug intrusion.
The system is easy to fix into your existing wall whether it’s made of stucco or wood siding. Tim suggests installing Mr. Spinwall on the north or east walls, in order to reduce glare while watching the game outdoors. The Mr. Spinwall bracket kit costs $1,999.95. The entire system can be built with the help of a general contractor or finish carpenter, and you can customize the look of Mr. Spinwall for your home.
The wiring and sound system
All the wiring from the television and other media run on 2 separate 20 amp circuits in a flexible conduit per the electrical code inspector. Tim designed Mr. Spinwall to have the sub woofer sitting on a lazy Susan so it can be swiveled around when watching television outdoors. Additional exterior speakers are installed to give it a theatre effect. The HDMI cables are prewired through the bottom brackets and are designed to accommodate upgrade and additional cables for the future.

Launches Companion Line to Highly Successful S511 SSD Series
ADATA Technology, a leading manufacturer of high-performance DRAM modules and NAND Flash application products, today announced the release of the S510 Solid State Drive (SSD), a mid-range version of the company’s flagship S511. Implementing the SATA III (6Gb/sec) specification, the S510 is aimed at the growing pool of users who recognize the cost and performance advantages of solid state drive upgrades for both desktop and portable computers.
The performance advantages of the SATA III transfer specification are becoming well-known among consumers, and the S510 capitalizes on this trend with native support through adoption of the SandForce SF-2200 series chip. its read and write speeds are twice that of SSDs using the older SATA II specification, and in real world test simulations reached 550/510MB read and write speeds respectively, with 4K random write speeds as high as 85,000 IOPS.
outside of the new computer market, SSDs are increasingly seen as a cost-effective option for upgrading existing laptop and notebook computers, as these systems often benefit more in terms of boot speed and application performance over comparable desktop systems. Additionally, laptop and notebook users are more likely to need the low heat and high impact resistance of solid state storage. By replacing the mechanical drive with an SSD, the useful life of the laptop or notebook can be extended.
The S510 will be available in 120GB capacities.
Availability The new S510 solid state drive is distributed through designated agents and resellers. For more information, visit the ADATA Web site: adata-group.com

By Ken Hall Published: 2:00 AM – 09/08/11
State Sen. Greg Ball, R-Patterson, plans to hold hearings in a few weeks to find out why power companies struggled to keep up with the damage from Hurricane Irene. Assemblyman Kevin Cahill, D-Kingston, might do the same.
They are likely to hear what they have heard before when other natural disasters brought down power lines and left thousands in the dark.
Companies will say they tried to be prepared, but that the scope of the damage made it hard to restore power much faster than they did. With snow and ice making roads impassable in winter storms and with flooding and downed trees wiping out bridges and blocking roads this time, crews struggle just to reach the trouble spots. Utilities will also remind legislators how costly these repairs can be.
Before they start on that familiar round of questions and answers, here’s another topic they should explore, one that has more of a chance to make a real difference in the future: Why don’t they bury more utility lines instead of putting them back on the poles, only to be brought down by the next storm?
I didn’t think of that by myself; a friend who knows a lot about the industry suggested that if power companies would bury the lines, it could solve many problems, starting with the vulnerability that all these lines display every time high wind, heavy snow or something else brings down a tree.
The squirrels who occasionally leap to their death and bring down a neighborhood circuit would no longer pose such a danger. Cars that wrap themselves around poles would no longer interrupt power and a roadside stripped of all those obstacles would be safer for drivers as well.
And before you say that buried lines bring their own costs and problems, consider how many vital services we already have put underground with few, if any, disruptions. Nobody is suggesting that we need to dig up the water, sewer and gas lines and run them from pole to pole. While all of those services occasionally develop leaks or faults, their troubles are hardly noticeable compared with the widespread and repeated trauma that storms inflict on the power lines.
This issue came up in new Hampshire as the region struggled with the challenges of Irene and utility companies said that moving more service underground would bring higher costs. That brought a quick reply in a letter to the Concord Monitor, pointing out that investor-owned utilities see the expense of burying lines as a threat to their profits while municipal utilities have been making that investment for years, a decision that pays dividends every time a storm hits and wires that are safely in the ground do not need to be repaired.
Ball and Cahill should make the utility representatives address this issue. Then they should make it the Legislature’s business to do the math and see if an investment in burying cables today might pay off in fewer repairs and less inconvenience tomorrow.

September 15th, 2011 — keyboard Mouse
You can get a lot done on your computer without ever touching your mouse. Command keys can speed up work and save some wear and tear on your wrists. And some of these shortcuts even include a few surprises.
It’s a known fact that small finger movements on the mouse can sometimes have painful consequences. Mouse arm — or RSI syndrome — remains a problem despite the predominance of ergonomic mice.
But the shortcuts can help cut down on some of these gestures, while getting your work done faster. indeed, there are shortcuts for just about every operating system and software. And just about every action that can be performed with a mouse can also be done with keyboard commands.
Many of these commands can be found online on sites that sort various keyboard options by function.
In Windows for example data can be opened, moved, renamed or thrown away with command keys. A window in Windows 7 can be maximized by simultaneously pressing the Windows key and the up arrow.
Switching to the down arrow minimizes the window, while the Windows key and M minimizes all windows. Reverse that by hitting Windows, shift and M at the same time.
Pressing Windows and the Tab key get you a 3D view. Explorer starts with a combination of the Windows key and E.
Many of these codes are the same on both Macs and PCs. whereas PCs rely on the Ctrl button, Apple machines rely on the Apple button, which has been replaced by the cmd button on some models.
Thus, while the cursor on a PC can be moved through text with Ctrl and an arrow key, Mac does the same with a combination of cmd and an arrow key, jumping ahead to the end of a line or page. Switching to the alt button moves you through one word at a time.
But, despite these similarities, people who switch between systems might have some problems adjusting. Macs don’t have a simple right-click option, which can be used on a PC to pull up a lot of important function options. But that is emulated on the Mac by hitting Ctrl while clicking with the mouse.
Most Windows users will eventually find special keys on a Mac keyboard, but knowing the right combinations will get you there quicker.
Regardless of operating system, most of today’s browsers also offer a lot of helpful shortcuts. Ctrl and T will let you tab over (cmd and T on a Mac). the shift and space bars let you move back and forth between pages on Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Alt and an arrow key let you move between tabs. To quickly get to the search window, try Ctrl-K with Firefox, Ctrl-E with Internet Explorer and Cmd-Shift-L with Safari.
The examples could go on and on. But once you get used to them, you can work more effectively and spare your joints.
As a bonus, some programmes hide surprises — Easter eggs — behind unusual key combinations. For example, if users of QuarkXpress place a box in the middle of the screen and then hit Shift-Option-cmd-K, their display will be visited by funny aliens who put on a fireworks show around the box.
But such Easter eggs have fallen out of favour, since many companies feel it will make them look less than professional.

just curious to know if the radio frequency receiver that comes with the logitch wireless keyboard and mouse be used for internet sharing..not far..but wirlessly?..i have internet on my desktop..have no router..no dongle..and a laptop with no internet connection.
so wanted to know if theres any way i could share internet wirlessly?
Basicaly no.
Wireless internet works on a compleetly different radio frequency to radio frequencies so this i snot possible.
To do it you would need to buy a standard network router and to boost the range you can attach a, what looks like a satalite dish, to the antenna and this will increase the distance in one direction. or you could just but a huge antenna.
Your Call
No unfortunately that is not possible. For about $99 you can get a router which you can plug into your PC and share your connection.
But you cant use RF for transmitting internet
September 5th, 2011 — cable Clips & Tidies
I've recently built myself somewhat of a beastly gaming rig. it runs pretty cool at the moment but i have a problem with cable clutter. it /really/ gets on my nerves and i know it restricts airflow inside of a computer case, causng the components to run hotter.
What would be the best way to reduce clutter?
Simple cable ties and mounts?
Spiral wrap?
Wire braiding?
Heat-shrink?
If your case has a back plate for the mother board and room behind it for cables then run them there.
Otherwise just try to run them out of the way an just tie the cables.
Use tie wraps or something to tie several cables together

Looks good, except you should change out your processor for a Core i7 and the motherboard for an Asus P6T. an i7 920 will easily beat a Q9650 because of a newer and better core architecture.

Also i7 requires triple-channel DDR3 RAM.
EDIT:
A P6T will work with an i7 and your current parts.
The OC Palm thing is a gimmick from what I've heard. A standard P6T or P6T Deluxe will be fine.
i7 and the P6T can take advantage of triple-channel RAM, so 9GB would be ideal( 3x 1GB plus 3x 2GB)
