I want a decent Career in Retail or Shopping TV what can you suggest?
May 8th, 2011 — retailing
I am 17 and i have now decided that i have 2 decision for a Careet but unsure how and which to choose and how i am able to get there. One is i would like to pursue a Career as a TV Shopping Channel Presenter or the Other is to work my way up in a Retail Environment. I currently have 2 Jobs as a SALES ASSISTANTS in both Jobs + i have just finished college for this year. I am presuming i will need some sort of qualification from college to get into the TV Retail Industry but i am unsure as to which courses i should take. Can anyone advise me on how to make my way to eithe one of the these career Paths?
First I'd suggest you learn proper English. Second finish you education with a major in marketing and a minor in broadcasting. That'll give you the balance you need for both of your chosen career paths! Don't stop learning! PEACE!
If you get the shopping channels up on the internet they list vacancies. They also give contacts. if you get into the company you may be able to progress up the ladder.
You will probably need to take at college a media course of some sort for a career in TV. Go along to your local job centre or college and enquire. It won't cost anything to ask will it. Sales assistant jobs are usually plentyful in job centres.
Definitely finish college, you will get a lot further with a degree. As for getting into the industry of shopping channel person, consider talking to a career counselor at your school. That would be the best place to start. Also, try researching their website and see if you can find contact information and try to go from there.
Go for it! you're 17 and you have your whole life a head of you…
Don't give up!
Working in retail can be a tough decision to stick with for the rest of your life. a lot of health problems can arise from retail, believe me, I know first hand. even in management positions, but if you get higher in the company where you don't have to do much of the heavy work, you'd be all set. I worked for a book store, and I found that to be a very good retail job. good luck with your decision. but do stay in school, you can never stop learning.
Ask your tutor about further qualifications education is the key .Hope you do well and best of luck with your career.
