FLIGHT attendants, real estate agents, carpenters and earthmovers, watch out- the tax office is on the warpath.
The ATO have released the list of the occupations it is targeting for audit for the 2011 tax year.
Each year, the ATO selects some jobs they plan to target for work expense claims.
H&R Block Regional Director Frank Bass said people shouldn’t panic.
"Every year some individuals in occupations targeted by the ATO freeze up and become over-cautious in making their claims," he said.
"the best approach is to get your paperwork in order and make a full and genuine claim for your entitlements."
Earthmoving plant operators, flight attendants, carpenters and joiners (including apprentices and trainees) and real estate employees are being targeted this year.
As part of the campaign, the ATO writes letters to taxpayers whose claims are at the upper level of average for that occupation and those whose claims have increased significantly in the past few years.
Mr Brass said the ATO pays close attention to their claims for using cars and travel expenses as well as deductions for home office, mobile phone and internet expenses.
